There are several ways to install a Blogger template. You can choose one of them and see the instructions below.

Installing a Blogger Template with the Upload Method

First, make sure you have backed up your Blogger template. Next, you can follow these steps to install a Blogger template with the Upload method:

  1. Go to your Blogger Dashboard > select the Theme menu.

  2. Click the Dropdown Icon (The Down Arrow Icon next to the Customize button).

  3. Select the Restore menu.

  4. A popup dialog will appear, click the Upload button.

  5. Find and select the template file you want to use (the .xml file).

  6. Done

This method is highly recommended if you are using the same template.
If you use this method, all existing Blogger widgets in the old template will remain (not deleted). If you want to delete them all (without any settings and widgets in the old template), then you can install a Blogger template using the Paste Method.

Installing a Blogger Template with the Paste Method

First, make sure you have backed up your Blogger template. Next, you can follow these steps to install a Blogger template with the Paste method:

  1. Open the template file (.xml file) using a Text Editor (Notepad, Notepad++, Sublime Text, etc.) and copy all the code by pressing CTRL + A (Select All) then CTRL + C (Copy) on the keyboard.

  2. Open your Blogger Dashboard, select the Theme menu > Click the Dropdown Icon (The Down Arrow Icon next to the Customize button) > Select the Edit HTML menu.

  3. Select all the Template code by pressing CTRL + A and paste the code you copied earlier by pressing CTRL + V on the keyboard.

  4. Finally, click the Disk Icon (On the top right) to save the changes you have made.

  5. Done

This method is highly recommended if you have never used the same template before.
If you use this method, all widgets in the old template will be deleted. If you want all widgets in the old template to remain, you can install a Blogger template using the Upload Method.

Installing a Blogger Template with the Overwrite Method

This method is an alternative to the Upload Method and Paste Method if you find that both methods fail to work. Follow these steps:

  1. Open your Blogger Dashboard > select the Theme menu.

  2. Use a built-in template from Blogger first. You can use the Contempo, Soho, Emporio, Notable, etc. templates.

  3. If you have, you can repeat the Upload Method or Paste Method.

  4. Done
